Understanding Myopia in Children
Myopia happens when your child’s eyeball is too long from front to back. It can also develop when the cornea, the clear window at the front of the eye, is curved too steeply. When light enters your child’s eye, the rays fall just short of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye.

Would recommend Dr. Jenna Bacerra to anyone of all ages! Previous eye doctors at corporate chains rushed through my eye exam but Dr. Bacerra described everything with great attention. My time went past 5 because I had so many questions but my dr. and the sweet lady that helped me with my paperwork reassured me it was okay 🙂

Customer Beware! This place is a total scam. They lie to you about your insurance to force you into paying a ton out of pocket and at the same time double bill your insurance for the same services that you just paid out of pocket.

I spoke to the owner. It was a great call. Definitely miscommunication which led to confusion and red flags. Eye Care center is not a scam. I remain a customer of Eye Care Center and look forward to continuing to use them for my eye care needs in the future.

The entire appointment was great. The office is located in a mall. Easy to find and plenty of parking. I was seen by the Med-tech as soon as we arrived. He was very kind and professional. As soon as the tech was finished his testing I went to see the DR. DR Albina was wonderful. He totally knew my vision situation and spoke to both my wife and I. It was a refreshing experience because he, in just a few minutes knew exactly what I have be dealing with for almost 40 years. He is going to stay in contact with me even though this was a one time visit set up by Veterans Evaluation Services. I highly recommend DR. Albina!

After visiting three different eye doctors for my 7-year-old daughter’s myopia management, Dr. Park was the only one who truly took the time to explain everything clearly and thoroughly. He’s incredibly attentive, easy to talk to, and very transparent about every step of the process.

Very nice eye care place. They take Blue Cross Blue shield Medicaid and have a good sampling of like 20-30 frames fully covered by Medicaid.
Very thorough with lots of good tests and no annoying eye puff machine.

Dr. Park got me in right away and was very helpful! I was dealing with an infection in my eye that wouldn’t go away and he was knowledgeable, spoke to me with respect and understanding even when I wasn’t sure what was going on, and he checked in on me to make sure I was progressing!
I also had issues with my pharmacy not processing my prescriptions correctly. Dr. Park was easy to get in contact with to discuss the issues I was having and he even took it upon himself to call my pharmacy THREE times to make sure I got the medication I needed.
All of the staff I encountered were very friendly and quick to work with me.

My son is 8 years old and has autism. I truly appreciate how well the entire staff was able to handle my baby. They made us comfortable, worked with any difficulties there were during his eye exam, to which there was only 1 occurrence with putting eye drops in his eyes, to which they managed to do, and just was overall pleasant. I usually don’t take the time to write reviews, but I had such a great experience I wanted to share mine. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the “Eye Care Center” because it looks fairly small from the outside but I was wondering pleasantly surprised to find an office that had top notch technology and a wonderful staff. I felt very well taken care of as a first time client and the doctor took the time to thoroughly explain some things about my eyes and his recommendations. BONUS- staff is bilingual and super friendly. Couldn’t recommend this place enough !

When to Start and Stop Myopia Management in Children
Myopia progression is fastest in younger children, so starting myopia control as soon as possible will give the best overall results. There is lots of evidence for starting myopia control treatments from ages 6-8 years, and some evidence for starting from age 4.
Recommended Starting Ages for Treatments:
- Atropine Eye Drops: From age 4
- Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) Contact Lenses: From age 6
- Soft Contact Lenses: From age 7-8
- Myopia Control Spectacle Lenses: From age 8
Duration of Treatment: Myopia typically stabilizes in the late teenage years to early adulthood. It’s advisable to continue myopia control treatments until at least the late teens, as stopping prematurely may result in continued progression.
